The Color of Gumby

On this day in 1955 Art Clokey creates the clay humanoid figure Gumby via a theatrical short entitled Gumbasia, a surreal stop-motion animation of moving and expanding lumps of clay. Gumby immediately became a much sought-after television personality and was given his own series in 1957.

Today in 1998 Microsoft boss Bill Gates receives a pie in the face in Brussels, Belgium.
