Oh Yoko!

Today is the birthday of Japanese-born poet, performance/conceptual artist, happening-maker, experimental filmmaker, singer, peace and humanitarian activist Yoko Ono, known also for being married to John Lennon. Her seminal 1964 conceptual artwork Grapefruit, a book of instructions and drawings (reissued in 1971 by Simon & Shuster), was composed of surreal, Zen-like directives to be completed in the mind of the reader:

Imagine the clouds dripping.
Dig a hole in your garden to
put them in.
